We first met Tim Hill in August of 2023 during the CHFA meeting in Toronto, which is where Wow-Finds pivoted to the online store it is today. Walking the isles of the exhibit hall we stopped instantly as we saw the beautiful packaging of the iLola products.
We just had to know more. Tim, one of the co-founders of iLola, was more than happy to chat away with us about the concept of the loose leaf tea disc, and why his wife Sue-Marie had invented it. We enjoyed digging deeper into the inspiration behind iLola and the loose leaf tea disc in a recent sit down with Tim.
We talk about the challenges that people have found in adopting loose leaf tea at home, and the benefits of a pre-portioned tea disc. Also, the benefits of removing many of the chemicals (including bleach and micro-plastics) that we are unknowingly exposed to when using conventional tea in a tea bag.
We discuss some of the feedback we have had from our customers and our own experience, what a tea humidor is and why it's a crucial part of the iLola tea experience, and some ideas that are in the works.
Finally we chat a bit about their recent experience on Dragon's Den, and what it was like preparing to be on the popular show, and ultimately what it was like when they were recording the episode. We loved watching the airing of the episode, and the successful pitch that they provided to the Dragons.
