Upcycled Coffee
Bear & Joey are extremely proud that the coffee used in their exfoliating coffee scrubs, has been re-purposed from their own, and surrounding cafes on on Vancouver Island. While preparing the waste coffee grinds for use in their cosmetics is laborious and time consuming, they see reducing the stress on an already stretched coffee industry as a small way to support the industry they love. The use of upcycled coffee is possible, as while the flavor in spent coffee has gone, its caffeine remains - and this is the key component to ensure an effective, high quality, scrub.

Being Planet Aware
With the knowledge that their products will end up in our waterways, they selected only all-natural, honest & biodegradable ingredients. Making their formulations free from parabens, phthalates, PEG’s and microbeads which is as good for your skin as it is for our oceans.

Fairtrade
When sourcing their 2nd largest key ingredient, coconut oil, they were sure to select a supplier which provided not only organic oil, but even more importantly fair trade oil. They are dedicated to ensuring that all of their ingredients meet their high standards of quality and ethics.

No Animal Cruelty
Dedicated to the animals in this world, their ingredients are selected to be vegan friendly, as well they ensure that none of them are tested on animals - only on those humans looking for smoother skin.

Sustainable Packaging 
Packaging materials have been selected to not only preserve the freshness of their scrubs, but also to be easy for their customers to use. Through much research and testing, they have transitioned to a pouch which is compostable, and have adapted their shipping practices to also be eco-friendly and recyclable.
